Crig Rosenberg's Professional Biography
Craig grew up in Southern California, becoming involved with both computer programming and photography from an early age. By the time he was 15 years old, he had won two engineering design awards from the City of Los Angeles for the design of an energy saving product.
After graduation from Chadwick High School in Palos Verdes, he moved to the Pacific Northwest to study engineering at the University of Washington where he obtained a Bachelor of Science degree in Industrial Engineering, focusing on programming industrial robots. Continuing on for his Master’s and Ph.D. degrees, he studied Human Factors, User Interface Design, and Software Engineering. During that time, he focused his research efforts on the emerging field of Virtual Environments at the Human Interface Technology Laboratory.
While in graduate school Craig was the sole recipient of a large scholarship award from the I/ITSEC for advancing the field of interactive computer graphics for flight simulation. In addition, he received a prestigious award from the Link Foundation for advancing the field of computer graphics. During this time, he worked as a Research Technologist, Laboratory Manager, and Human Factors Professor and published twenty research papers in professional journals and proceedings relating to the fields of User Interface Design, Computer Graphics, Simulation, and the Design of Spatial, Stereographic, and Auditory Displays.
After receiving his Ph.D., Craig focused his efforts on his consulting business. He has helped a wide array of companies from startups through Fortune 100 companies, in the areas of Software Engineering, Systems Engineering, Simulation, Human Factors, and Interface Design. For the last ten years, Craig has been consulting for the Phantom Works division of the Boeing Corporation, creating advanced fast-time discrete event simulation software for Boeing Commercial and Military projects. To support this work, he has an active U.S. Secret Security Clearance.
In his free time, Craig enjoys spending time with his wife and son, playing tennis, racquetball, drums, and composing and recording music. He has created five book covers for Harcourt Brace Publishing Company for authors such as Arthur C. Clarke, Isaac Asimov, Stephen King, and Bruce Sterling. In addition, his music is featured in several films and several minutes of his computer graphics animations appear in the movie Beyond the Mind’s Eye.
